About the Author

Pairlee McGowan

I am an eighty-year-old mother of four, grandmother of eight, and great-grandmother of four, with another on the way.

My story blends fiction with truth, written from a love of storytelling and a desire to share an important message. At its heart, this story is about how love- love of God, family, and friends- gives meaning to our lives and helps us endure.

I dedicate this book to my family, friends, and church family, who have supported me every step of the way.  I thank my family, especially my granddaughter Shay, for encouraging me to keep writing when I wanted to stop.  I also thank Ms. Stephanie Stovall, who helped me turn my manuscript into the pages of this book.  I thank God for her assistance.  It has been a challenge, but I did not give up.  Thank you all.

Wonderful book about faith and trust in God. Well written and easy to follow the story. Can't wait for the next book to see how it all concludes.

Having been a widow for seven years ,I was reluctant to read this inspiring book,Grief S.U.C.K.S..I thought it would pull the scab from a wound that is slowly trying to heal.When my husband passed in 2017,it was as though I was drowning in a sea of sorrow. Therefore I immediately identified with her struggle and found the book to be a restoring source of encouragement.The title Grief S.U.C.K.S.,is ingenious. Each letter of the acronym represents what one must do to go through the challenge of continuing to live with this new stage in life.The letter S for Surviving and U for Uncertainties of tomorrow begin an outline of her struggle to cope and her reliance on Scriptures for encouragement. The book is a worthwhile journey for anyone searching for answers to the acute question,”What do I do now”?
